Montville Woods Gallery – The History

Step inside Montville Woods Gallery and you are greeted by the original solid timber front counter built by the first owners using satinay timber sourced from Kgari, Fraser Island.

There is a lovely history to our building which began in 1972 as a Mini Museum displaying a large collection of clocks, antiques, musical instruments and Australian artifacts.

Click on the link below for the Montville History Group where you can read the interesting story and see the historical photographs.

Montville Woods Gallery – The Woodworkers

We have approximately 45 woodworkers who make beautiful works for our gallery. Some of them are production woodworkers and some only make a few items, but they are all incredibly talented and important contributors to the success of Montville Woods Gallery.

For those aspiring woodworkers, we offer a selection of timber, turning blanks, carving tools and finishing products to help bring your creative visions to life. And if you want to refine your skills our wood carving workshops are a must-attend.

Montville – The Village

Montville is a beautiful and picturesque village in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with a rich

history of timber as it is surrounded by native rainforests. The first settlers in the late 1800’s cleared the area known then as Razorback, and the red cedar logs were rolled down the range to waiting bullocks who took them to timber mills on the coast. At a community meeting in 1899 the name was changed to Montville after a town in Connecticut, USA. Montville today is a thriving community of approximately 900 residents and a very popular tourism attraction due to the natural beauty and holiday vibe. Voted the most welcoming village in 2025, you will be sure of friendly, rural hospitality in Montville and the villages on the Blackall Range.
